What do the skillet numbers mean?

Field follows vintage sizing, where the number matched a burner ring size on old wood-burning stoves, not the pan's diameter. A No. 8, for example, is 10 ¼" across the top. Check the size list in Details for exact measurements.

Which size should I get?

The No. 8 (10 ¼") and No. 10 (11 ⅝") are the most versatile for everyday cooking for one to four people. The No. 4 and No. 6 are great for eggs, sides, and small batches. The No. 12 handles big family meals and roasts.

Does it work on induction?

Yes. Field skillets work on every stovetop, including glass, ceramic, and induction. A slightly raised heat ring on the bottom keeps the pan steady on flat cooktops.

Do I need to season it before using it?

No. It comes pre-seasoned with three coats of organic grapeseed oil, so you can cook with it right away. Preheat it on low for a few minutes before adding food, and the seasoning will keep building every time you cook.

How do I clean it?

Wash it by hand, never in the dishwasher. Then towel-dry it and set it on a warm burner for a minute to drive off any remaining moisture before you put it away.
