Woven darning is a timeless and versatile way to repair knitwear and other well-loved fabrics, transforming worn areas into patches that are as strong as they are expressive. In this introductory workshop, you’ll learn the essentials of creating a stable woven darn while exploring design choices that make your mend truly stand out.

In this workshop you’ll:

  • Learn how to select yarns, needles, and materials for woven darning
  • Prepare a garment for repair and set up the structure of a woven darn
  • Practice weaving techniques to fill holes and reinforce thinning fabric
  • Explore creative elements—color, texture, pattern—to design unique, visible mends
  • Work on a garment of your own or practice on provided samples

You’ll take home a finished or in-progress woven darn, practice materials, and the skills to continue mending at home.

Participants are encouraged to bring a garment in need of repair.
Materials included; no prior sewing or mending experience required.

Classes are transferable. If you cannot find someone to take your spot, please email info@gathersebastopol.com and we will offer it to the waitlist (if any).

If a class doesn't meet the minimum registration, we reserve the right to cancel up to 24 hours before the class and will offer a credit, refund, or reschedule.
