Sourdough Bread Basics | Saturday, September 27
Date: Saturday, September 27 • 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Discover the rhythm of real bread with Tawnya Deeths of The Peaceful Acre Baker in this immersive, hands-on workshop. Whether you’re new to baking or looking to deepen your sourdough skills, this class will ground you in traditional techniques and practical kitchen know-how.
Tawnya will guide you through bakers' math, recipe formulas, flour selection, and the steps of mixing, kneading, shaping, and proofing sourdough. You'll also learn how to bake your loaf in a home oven, ensuring that your bread is both beautiful and delicious.
During the class, you’ll learn about feeding and maintaining a starter, mix a dough from scratch, and shape pre-fermented dough to take home and bake. Along the way, you’ll sample a few different styles of sourdough, connect with fellow bread lovers, and gain the skills to keep baking at home.
You’ll leave with:
- You own living sourdough starter
- One shaped boule ready to bake that evening
- One proofed dough to shape and bake with later
- Banneton basket + cover
- A set of recipes and notes
More than just a baking class, this is an invitation to step into a nourishing tradition. Come ready to get your hands in some dough and leave with the confidence to keep the practice going at home
Cost: $150. Class cost includes workshop instruction, a live heirloom starter, 2 bread loaves, and a rattan banneton
