Preserve the Season: Apples

Capture the flavors of fall in this hands-on preservation workshop. Working with peak-season local apples, you’ll explore practical techniques for turning the harvest into pantry staples and seasonal flavors to enjoy well beyond apple season.
Throughout the workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of home preservation while exploring three different ways to work with seasonal fruit. Together, we’ll make apple pie filling, apple butter, and an apple shrub, giving you hands-on experience with canning, cooking fruit into a concentrated preserve, and creating a bright, vinegar-based drinking shrub.
In this workshop you’ll:
- Learn the fundamentals of home preservation and safe canning
- Make and can apple pie filling for an easy seasonal pantry staple
- Cook apples into rich, concentrated apple butter
- Learn to make an apple shrub using fruit, sugar, and vinegar
- Gain practical skills and techniques you can apply to future seasonal harvests
You’ll leave with apple pie filling, apple butter, and apple shrub made during class, along with recipes and the confidence to continue preserving at home.
No prior preserving experience required.
