Knitting Colorwork Socks | starts October 28
Date: 3 Tuesdays, October 28, November 4, November 11 • 4-6 pm
Ready to take your knitting skills to the next level? This three-session course gives you the chance to learn two skills in one: stranded colorwork and sock construction. If you already know how to knit, purl, and work in the round, you’re ready for socks!
Over three Tuesday evenings, instructor Abigail Wissink will guide you step by step through the process of knitting colorwork socks (using the Clairdelune Socks pattern), from cast-on to finishing techniques. You’ll leave with confidence in your knitting, a finished (or nearly finished) pair of socks, and the know-how to tackle future projects with color and style. Students must know how to knit in the round. This is an intermediate-level workshop, not meant for beginning knitters.
In this course you’ll:
- Learn the magic loop cast-on and how to size your socks
- Practice stranded colorwork and color dominance while knitting the cuff and leg
- Master sock construction: heel flap, heel turn, gusset, and toe shaping
- Use the Kitchener Stitch to finish the toe with a seamless look
- Explore color theory and tips for choosing yarns that make your projects pop
- Get introduced to double pointed needles as you begin your second sock
