Gifting Naturally: Natural Dyed Napkins + Tea Towels | Saturday, November 22
Date: Saturday, November 22 • 10 am-12 pm
A hands-on workshop with Hanna the Wool Witch
As part of Gather’s Gifting Naturally series, join us for a creative afternoon exploring the art of plant-based color. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to use flowers, leaves, and roots to naturally dye fabric—creating a one-of-a-kind napkin and towel set that’s perfect for gifting or keeping for your own home.
Under the guidance of Hanna The Wool Witch, you’ll explore two dyeing methods: bundle dyeing and dip dyeing. We’ll start by learning the basics of prepping and mordanting fabric, then dive into which plants give the best, most vibrant colors. You’ll design your own bundle dyed cotton tea towel using locally sourced botanical materials, then steam it to reveal a stunning, nature-made print.
Next, you’ll experiment with two different floral dye baths to dip dye a pair of cotton napkins, practicing tying and folding techniques that create beautiful, organic patterns.
You’ll take home:
- One bundle dyed cotton tea towel
- A set of 2 dip-dyed cotton napkins
- Knowledge to continue natural dyeing at home
This workshop is perfect for anyone drawn to color, craft, and sustainability. Whether you’re making gifts for others or yourself, you’ll leave with handmade textiles infused with the beauty of the natural world.
All materials are provided. No prior dyeing experience needed.
