Biodynamic Gardening: Ferments, Sprays & Compost Preparations

Experience biodynamic gardening on a working farm. Join us at Three Springs Community Farm for a hands-on introduction to building healthy soil using herbs, weeds, and other common plants to create natural garden inputs. Guided by farmer Willow Summer, you'll explore practical biodynamic techniques that support healthier, more resilient gardens.
In this workshop you'll:
- Harvest herbs, weeds, and other common garden plants to create a biodynamic plant ferment
- Learn how biodynamic compost preparations help build healthy, biologically active soil
- Discover how biodynamic field sprays can support crop vitality and natural resilience
- Explore the traditional herbs used in biodynamic gardening, including yarrow, chamomile, nettle, oak bark, dandelion, and valerian
- Leave with practical techniques you can adapt in your own home garden
You'll leave with your own handcrafted plant ferment, a packet of biodynamic herbs, and practical techniques you can begin using in your own garden right away.
About the Instructor
Willow Summer is the steward of Three Springs Community Farm, where she practices biodynamic farming as a way of cultivating healthy soil, nourishing food, and a deeper relationship with the land. Drawing from years of hands-on experience, she combines practical gardening knowledge with the principles of biodynamics to help gardeners build thriving, resilient ecosystems.
Prerequisites
No prior biodynamic gardening experience is required. This workshop is designed for home gardeners of all experience levels.
Location
This workshop takes place at Three Springs Community Farm in Sebastopol, offering the opportunity to learn biodynamic techniques where they're practiced every day. The farm address and arrival instructions will be emailed after registration.
Workshop Schedule
3:30–4:00 pm: Arrive at Three Springs Community Farm, park, and check in.
4:00–6:30 pm: Hands-on workshop in the garden.
