Beginning Crochet Fundamentals
Curious about crochet but not sure where to start? This beginner-friendly workshop is designed to give you a strong foundation in the essential skills needed to begin crocheting with confidence.
Over two sessions, we’ll slow down and focus on technique—how to hold your hook and yarn comfortably, how stitches are formed, and how to create even, consistent fabric. Through guided practice, you’ll build muscle memory while learning the foundational stitches and techniques that open the door to future projects and patterns.
In this workshop you’ll:
- Learn how to hold the hook and yarn comfortably
- Understand yarn types, hook sizes, and basic pattern language
- Make a slip knot and foundation chain with even tension
- Practice single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet stitches
- Learn stitch placement, turning, and counting stitches
- Explore techniques for improving tension and stitch consistency
- Learn how to organize stitch counts and measurements for future projects
This class focuses on building strong foundational skills rather than completing a finished project, giving you the confidence to continue into patterns and more advanced crochet techniques.
